** The improbable happened and Ryan bates was re-signed by the Bills... I guess the Salary cap is a myth.

Sal Capaccio reported around noon CT today that the Buffalo Bills are re-signing offensive guard Ike Boettger.
A lot of Bears must be wondering why in the world this should concern them. The reason why this is so important is that this almost guarantees that the Bills won't be able to match the offer the Bears made for G Ryan Bates.
Last Thursday, the Bears signed Ryan Bates, a restricted free agent from the Buffalo Bills, to an offer sheet. That gave the Bills five days to match the contract or they will lose the lineman without any compensation. The limit for the Bills to match the contract is tomorrow.
All signs point towards Bates being a member of the Bears come Tuesday night. This would truly be an incredible signing by GM Ryan Poles.
Bates is only 25 and played in all 17 games for the Bills last year. He showed great promise and versatility playing both guard spots and could fit right in. The advanced metrics show that he is technically sound and could benefit from an increased snap count. Last season, he played 294 snaps and allowed 0 sacks and only had 1 penalty.
While some fans could be concerned because of the lack of experience Bates has, I don't mind at all. The main reason he did not start that many games is because of the overflow of talent on the Bills roster. Bates could be the long-term answer at right guard for the Bears.
Bates could become part of a "reload" in Chicago. His versatility is his best attribute in my mind. He can play a lot of positions, and he can play them well. If the Bears want Justin Fields to succeed, they will have to put up a great offensive line in front of him and Bates is a great start!
