Former scout and current analyst Greg Gabriel was a loud detractor of Williams. Gabriel even warned the Bears against drafting the USC standout due to information he had received about Williams' character. In a new editorial, Gabriel noted that he thought Williams was a great talent but a poor display of character.
However, Gabriel has since changed his tune. In the piece published on Thursday, Gabriel explained how he believes the information he received was perceived incorrectly. Furthermore, based on everything he has heard out of training camp, Williams is, indeed, the best player to lead this next era of Chicago Bears football.
