Travis Kelce Shares His Thoughts on Comparing Caleb to Mahomes

During the extensive pre-draft evaluations, Caleb Williams, the new quarterback for the Bears, frequently drew comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, often considered the pinnacle of NFL quarterbacking. This sparked a debate on whether the comparison was justified.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently shared his insights, noting the similarities between Williams and Mahomes during his Texas Tech days on an episode of his «New Heights» podcast. «It was a lot about instinct, just trusting his throws deep down the field and letting his receivers make big plays,» Kelce explained. He highlighted Williams' versatility, mentioning his ability to make game-changing plays both through the air and on the ground, a rare combination for a quarterback who excels at passing.

In 2023, the Trojans called fewer designed runs for Williams, yet he remained a significant threat on the ground, scoring 11 rushing touchdowns, surpassing his total from the previous year. Williams also proved his prowess as a passer, maintaining a high completion rate of 66.9% over his college career at Oklahoma and USC, amassing over 10,000 yards, 93 touchdowns, and only 14 interceptions across 37 games.

Kelce was effusive in his praise, calling Williams "an absolute stud." He expressed confidence that Williams would significantly enhance the Bears' performance. "I think Caleb steps in there and immediately improves the team," Kelce asserted.
