After the Steelers loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, the team announced that starting QB Kenny Pickett suffered a high ankle sprain and will undergo surgery.
The Steelers are not quite sure yet when he will return, or if he even will.
For the time being while Pickett recovers, the Steelers have named backup and former 2nd overall draft pick Mitch Trubisky as the starter:
Trubisky was drafted by the Bears as the 2nd overall pick in 2017, but was soon realized to be a bust. This draft pick is considered to be one of the biggest mistakes in Chicago Bears history.
After a few seasons with the team, Trubisky signed with the Bills for one year, and then signed with the Steelers. He has been serving as a backup since.
