Despite only spending three seasons with the Chicago Bears, David Montgomery has quickly made himself a household name in Chicago, being a fan favorite and a strong voice in the long room.

Coming out of college one of Montgomery's strongest attributes was his raw physical, and that certainly shows on the field. Montgomery runs like his life depends on it and his effort has never been questioned on any given snap.

In his first three seasons with the Bears, Montgomery has only eclipsed 1000-yard once. Although he has yet to complete a full season due to a few nagging injuries.

Despite this Montgomery has certainly proven that he can be amongst one of the best backs in the game, having multiple breakout games in his career already. Unfortunately over the past three seasons, offensive line play has played favor in his hands, which certainly has an impact on his numbers.

Montgomery's toughness certainty flashes beyond the box score and still is one of his strongest traits. According to PFF « Since 2019, David Montgomery has 139 missed tackles, which would rank him 5th in the league».

Recently NFL Network's Peter Schrager put together a list of top running backs under 25 and Montgomery was left off that list. The list included Jonathan Taylor, Najee Harris, Cam Akers, Javonte Williams and division rival D'Andre Swift.

Montgomery has never feared carrying a chip on his shoulder and is expected to carry a big load in Luke Getsy's offense. The 2022 season could be the breakthrough season we have been waiting to see from Montgomery.
