This stat shows just how young the Bears roster really is!
We have heard around the NFL world for a while now that the Chicago Bears have one of the youngest rosters in the league. However, this can be a little misleading at times because you can have teams that have a young roster, but all the younger players are actually only role players and special teamers. Well, this is certainly not the case for this year's Bears team.
Indeed, here is a very interesting stat reported by Brad Biggs about the age of the players that were on the field during Sunday's game.
According to play time statistics, 37.3% of offensive snaps were taken by rookies or 2nd-year players.
On defense, 21.9% of snaps were taken by rookies.
On special teams, 40.9% of snaps were taken by rookies or 2nd-year players.
This is so a great thing to see and I firmly believe that this will pay huge dividends in the long-run. Having solid young assets and developing them is the key to having a great team for multiple years!
