As announced today, legendary college football coach Nick Saban has announced his retirement:

After 28 seasons as a college football coach, Saban retires as a 7-time National champion, awarded as a 5-time SEC Coach of the Year, and finishes with a total of 297 career wins, which is also 5th all-time.

His coaching career started all the way back in 1973 as a graduate assistant coach at Kent State, but his most notable years were when he joined Alabama back in 2007. After 17 years at Alabama, Saban finishes with a 206-29 record.

At the age of 72, Saban is calling it a career.
