Patrick Kane has been given a list of teams to select from for a potential trade.
With the NHL trade deadline fast approaching on March 3rd, Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson is poised to be one of the most active executives leading up to the deadline. The Blackhawks are currently in the bottom of the NHL standings and have the best odds to win the NHL Draft Lottery. Thus, "tanking" is the buzzword in Chicago as Davidson seeks to draft 17-year-old phenom Connor Bedard and acquire as many picks and prospects as possible through trades.
Several players, including Max Domi, Jake McCabe, Jonathan Toews, and the highly-coveted Patrick Kane, are rumored to be on the trading block. However, Kane and Toews must waive their no-trade clauses if they agree to a trade.
Amidst the trade speculation, Patrick Kane himself commented on the rumors, saying:
"I'm still undecided about the possibility of being traded. I'll make a decision closer to the deadline, but a few teams have already reached out to my agent, Pat Brisson. There are definitely intriguing opportunities out there and it could be exciting. We'll see."
This is a positive development for the Blackhawks and Kane as it indicates that he is open to the possibility of being traded if he finds the right team with which he believes he can win a Stanley Cup.
