Here is the straightforward explanation for the lack of talent at WR for the Bears
It's no secret to anyone that the Chicago Bears have one of the weakest wide receivers groups in the entire NFL. Indeed, you could make a case that this is one of the biggest reasons why the Bears are simply not able to move the ball through the air so far this season.
Well, here is a mind-blowing stat reported by Clay Harbor:
The Bears WRs are ranked as the worst in the NFL by PFF and they are last in WR spending w $4.6 million in 2022.
For context, Tyreek Hill is making $26.6 million alone this season.
This is crazy. You can't expect to have success if you are not willing to spend some money in order to acquire talented players. I'm not saying that Darnell Mooney is not talented. I believe he is amazing and he will be a great player for a long time, but I don't think he is currently a WR1.
With that being said, this likely will be the group for the entire season and the Bears will have to work with that.
