Former NFL GM calls the Bears reckless with the way they are handling Justin Fields
A lot of the talk this offseason has been about trying to protect QB Justin Fields as much as possible. However, when you look at the pre-season games so far, it looks like they have not completed the task of building a great offensive line in front of him. Of course, with Lucas Patrick's imminent return, we should expect to see a better line.
With that being said, it's a possibility that Fields will again be amongst the most sacked QB in the league next season.
Daniel Greenberg reported that former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum said on ESPN that the Chicago Bears are being reckless with the lack of protection for quarterback Justin Fields.
Mike: «Justin is a great talent but he may turn into David Carr. He has no chance of getting through 17 games.»

While I see what he meant, I think that a lot of the protection can come from Fields himself. He needs to be aware of the little time he might have and be able to protect himself and get rid of the football very quickly. I also expect OC Luke Getsy to play through his offense's strengths (or weaknesses) and move Fields out of the pocket several times per game.
Here is an example of what I'm referencing:
