This crazy stat shows how much of a freak Walter Payton truly was...
It's been wel-domumented that Walter pyaton actually had a short stint as a quarterback with the Bears back in 1984.
Bears HC Mike Ditka opted to put Payton in at quarterback for an extended period of time late in the second quarter.
It's crazy to watch one of the NFL's greatest running backs ever, drop back out of the shotgun and play quarterback. Anyhow, it was a middling day for Payton at quarterback.
He was intercepted once and completed just one pass but it was a two-yard touchdown toss to Matt Shuey.

Payton was then involved in many tricks plays during his career that had him throw the football. he was actually a very solid passer. He finished his career with 330 passing yards and 8 touchdown throw.
