"With the Chicago Bears having hired their new head coach in Matt Nagy, the Bears new coach will have to decide on his assistants. While Dowell Loggains has jumped ship and headed down south to be Adam Gase and the Miami Dolphins new offensive coordinator, Vic Fangio hasn't decided on his future. The Bears denied the Cincinnati Bengals the opportunity to interview Fangio for their defensive coordinator position just a couple of days ago, but as of Tuesday Fangio isn't officially under contract with the Bears anymore so he's free to interview with whoever he wants. While there's still a chance that Nagy wants to keep Fangio around to take care of the defensive side of things, the Green Bay Packers might not let that happen. According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Green Bay Packers are heavily chasing Fangio and consider him their top choice to be their new defensive coordinator. Rapoport also reports that the Bears are working to keep Fangio around. Fangio has been the Bears DC for the past three seasons and saw his team rank in the top 10 in total defense this past season. The team also ranked seventh for pass defense, seventh for scoring defense and 11th in pass rush. The Packers on the other hand ranked 22nd in total defense and 26th in scoring defense. It will be interesting to see if Fangio decides to stay in Chicago to continue working with his young defense or if he decides to try and help rebuild Green Bay's.
