Chiefs have Named Veteran QB the Starter after benching Patrick Mahomes for him to Rest
As revealed by insider Adam Schefter, the Chiefs have decided to rest QB Patrick Mahomes for week 18, and have named veteran QB Blaine Gabbert as the starter:
The Chiefs do not want to take any risks with this last game of the season, as it means nothing to their playoff chances. Mahomes has struggled for the past few weeks, and the team wants to make sure that he is 100% healthy for the playoffs.
Gabbert was the Jaguars first-round draft pick back in 2011, but has since been seen as a bust. He has bounced around to several different teams, and is now on the Chiefs after signing with them earlier this past offseason.
The Chiefs will be playing against the Chargers to end off the regular season.
