With drastic changes all around the organization, this off-season from the top down many believed that the Bears, veterans edge rusher Robert Quinn, would be on his way out. The Bears parted ways with many veterans on the defense such as Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, Bilal Nichols, Eddie Goldman, and Danny Trevethan. Quinn also was not a participant in many of the off-season programs heading into training camp.

Chicago Bears coaching and Ryan Poles were questioned constantly on Quinn's status and if he was actively being traded, and time and time again the staff voiced that they have been in communication with Quinn and that the trade conversation has not come up. Rightfully many members of the public doubted this and thought they saw the writing on the walls for Quinn's future in Chicago.

This week Quinn was nominated as one of the Bears four captains for the 2022 season and truly shows his status and role on the defense for the upcoming season. Eberflus' defense has a surplus of youthful pass rushers who could stand a lot to learn from one of the best pass rushers over the last decade. Quinn has over 100 career sacks and is coming off a tremendous 2021 season with a team-leading 18.5 sacks.

This week in an interview Quinn was asked about the defense for the upcoming season. Quinn stood his ground and voiced that «I think we will be a great defense» along with «we've got great players at every position. Like I said earlier, can we do it consistently and often? That will determine how great we really are because we've got great players. Now, can we collectively do it together?".

Truly Quinn is excited about this upcoming season and could once again play a major impact on the defensive front along with fellow defensive ends Trevis Gipson and Al-Quadin Muhammad.
