ESPN Courteney Cronin made an interesting point recently pointing out that Bears WR Velus Jones Jr is in an intense situation heading into the 2024 season.
Many thought Velus would have been cut last season but the Bears ended up hanging on to him and it seems like he made a great impression this year at OTAs. The young WR did not impress at his regular position but at punt returns where he stood out among the rest.
No one benefits from the changes to the kickoff more than the Bears' 2022 third-round pick. Jones, who struggled to carve out a role during his first two seasons, will have to be the team's best returner to secure his spot on a crowded wide receiver depth chart, but he has a solid head start given his impact on special teams. "
Hopefully for Velus, he has found himself a new spot on the team since it will tough for him to see any reps at WR this season with all of the new players showing up.
