Longtime Bears senior writer shares his thoughts on the Bears' 2 WR battle.

One of the biggest question marks on this Bears' offense, as we speak, is regarding the second receiver spot. We already know that Darnell Mooney is a great player and that he will be the first player on the depth chart. He has shown that he is able to be the #1 target and that he has a great connection with QB Justin Fields.

However, it's unclear who will be the second option. TE Cole Kmet has looked very solid in training camp so far. As for the receiver, it's a toss-up between Byron Pringle, Velus Jones, Tajae Sharpe and Equanimeous St. Brown.

Here is what Bears senior writer Larry Mayer had to say on the subject:

It appears that the top two contenders for the No. 2 receiver spot behind Darnell Mooney are Equanimeous St. Brown and Byron Pringle. St. Brown has impressed the Bears in training camp, but Pringle remains out with an injury. So we'll have to see when he's able to return to action. In the meantime, rookie Velus Jones Jr. is expected to make his preseason debut Thursday night in Seattle, and if Tajae Sharpe continues to perform like he has in practice and in the preseason opener versus the Chiefs, he'll also contend for that position.
