With all the new rules and protections put in place for players' safety over the years, we forget sometimes that football is a brutal sport.
Maulers Wide Reciever Isiah Hennie learned that the hard way. Hennie was carrying the ball up the left sideline when he got wrecked by Stars safety Cody Brown. 100% helmet-to-helmet hit, Hennie crumpled from the hit and then things got worse. Cameras at the USFL game caught Hennie spitting out teeth on the sidelines.
Every couple of years we get a good reminder of how brutal football really is and why professional athletes are called professional athletes. Here's hoping the tooth fairy leaves my guy an NFL contract under his pillow.
