The Packers will likely release this all-pro linebacker
A player that has been listed a lot of times as a potential cap casualty in the past couple of weeks is Packers' edge rusher Zadarius Smith.
We know that Green Bay is in the worst cap situation in all of football. They also have to find a way to sign their draft class and try to keep Davante Adams. Quick reminder: They have -$40 million in cap space...
Those are the reasons why I believe the Packers will cut ties with Zadarius Smith. He is set to have a cap hit of over $27 million. By releasing him, the Packers would free up over 15 million next season.
In his three years with the Packers, Smith recorded 108 combined tackles (29 of them for loss), 60 quarterback hits, 26 sacks and five forced fumbles. While he is still very good, he has had some injuries issues lately. In fact, he only played one game last season due to his back problems.
It will be very interesting to see what they do with him, Adams and even Rodgers. Brighter days might be ahead, BEARS NATION.
