The Bears have cut 3 players
Aaron Wilson reported that the Bears have cut Duke Shelley, Zach Thomas, and Khyiris Tonga.
This comes following the signing of 6 free agents. This is not a shock to anyone since the Bears simply had too many players on the roster. However, I have to say that I am very surprised to see that Tonga has been waived. He has been one of the brightest spots on the team throughout the preseason.
I really thought he would be part of the rotation on the interior defensive line this season. Tonga, a seventh-round draft pick a year ago, had 24 total tackles and one fumble recovery in 15 games last season.
Thonga's waiving was clearly a corresponding move after Chicago claimed former Minnesota Vikings nose tackle Arman Watts off waivers on Wednesday.
