The Bears are projected to have a LOT of cap space in 2023
With the trading of Khalil Mack, Ryan Poles has shown that he is really thinking about the future. This does not mean that they are throwing away the season and are "tanking" for the draft, but it means that they might be a year or two away.
When free agency starts in a few days, the bears are expected to have somewhere around $35 to $42 million in cap space. This is a pretty solid amount. However, here is a crazy stat: The Chicago Bears are slated to have approximately $121M in cap space in 2023.
Yes, you read that correctly, 121... This is really amazing. Now I know that this number will change with signings and roster moves. However, let's say it goes down from $121 million to $95 million. That is still so much money.
Here are some of the current players currently set to hit free agency next off-season:
LB Tremaine EdmundsCB Denzel WardCB Jaire AlexanderSS Derwin JamesLT Orlando BrownLT Cam RobinsonWR AJ BrownWR DK MetcalfWR Davante AdamsWR Deebo Samuel
While they might not be all available, there are still some pretty solid players on this list!
