Teven Jenkins is modelling his game after this all-pro left tackle
It's pretty obvious at this point that the Chicago Bears are very excited to see what the future holds for Bears OT Teven Jenkins. He was a 2n round selection last season. While he wasn't able to show his true potential due to many injuries, he was still able to prove that he was a good pick and that he could play at this level.
Jenkins mentioned on the No Name Football podcast that he is trying to learn as much as possible from All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams.
«One dude I had to start watching and paying attention to was Trent Williams. He's top-notch right now. One of the best tackles in the NFL. He's in his own world right now. I started watching some of his tape and everything.»
Williams is actually the best tackle in the league by a pretty significant margin. He was completely dominant last year, posting a whopping 97.8 PFF grade.
I think Jenkins is doing a good thing trying to learn a few things from him. I would say that they both play a similar, extremely physical game. While Teven Jenkins isn't quite as freaky when it comes to athleticism, he has enough attributes to thrive in Getsy's system if he learns how to play adequately. If you're going to model your game after anybody, you can do a lot worse than Williams.
