SEE HERE: Bears Newcomer Montez Sweat Compares Justin Fields to MVP Candidates
When the trade deadline approached during this season, the Bears made a trade that will "hopefully" be remembered as a great decision.
The Bears traded for Commanders DE Montez Sweat in exchange for a 2nd-round pick. Since joining the Bears, he has looked his very best, and the defense has greatly improved. He then signed a 4-year contract, meaning he is ready to commit to this team.
Sweat is also a great team player, and someone who talks highly of his teammates. In a recent interview, Sweat even compared Bears QB Justin Fields to former MVPs/candidates Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes:
"He's dynamic. Very dynamic. He makes plays like Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes but guys don't really hype it up like they would other quarterbacks bro"
- Sweat said
Sweat views Fields as an underrated player, as though he has made similar plays to Jackson and Mahomes, he gets nowhere near the same kind of love. Fields is always being bashed on by the media (and fans, sometimes), but he deserves a lot more praise.
Though the Bears may end up trading Fields away this offseason, it is clear that his teammates want him to stay in Chicago.
