Roquan Smith throwing a subtle jab at GM Ryan Poles
Roquan Smith's place with the Chicago Bears appeared to be in question all offseason after the linebacker failed to negotiate a new contract with the team. It was also reported that a "person" on Smith's behalf called out other teams requesting them to trade for him.
A few weeks later, Smith decided to end his holdout and he came back with the team.
But after all that, Smith's teammates still voted him one of the four captains for this season, along with Justin Fields, offensive guard Cody Whitehair, and defensive lineman Robert Quinn.
However, it looks like Smith still has the negotiation in his head. Indeed, this is what he said when he was asked if he wants more takeaways this season.
«Yeah, definitely. Take-aways get the big bucks, right?»
I love that answer. This is exactly what Smith's mindset should be. He needs to be able to earn his new contract by way of his play on the field this year!
