REPORT: Recent Developments in 49ers' Contract Talks With Nick Bosa Indicate Significant Gap in Expectations
Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers appear to be nearing the end of their contract impasse, with the gap in salary expectations reportedly not as wide as initially thought. Bosa has been absent from training camp as he pushes for a new deal, putting pressure on the team as their first game looms just nine days away. However, the latest updates suggest optimism.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports that the difference between what Bosa is seeking and what the 49ers are willing to offer is less than $4 million. Breer doesn't foresee Bosa playing for another team anytime soon. "The real question is whether he'll become the highest-paid non-quarterback ever, or merely the highest-paid edge rusher," Breer commented in a recent mailbag.
The 49ers are hopeful that an agreement can be reached before their Week 1 clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, even if a deal is finalized, it remains uncertain whether Bosa will be game-ready.
