Over the Moon for Mooney

Darnell Mooney had an exciting season, A lot went wrong for Chicago in 2021, Mooney however, had some bright spots. The 2020 fifth-round pick ended up being a focal point of the offense this year, handling 27% of the team's targets. Mooney finished top 20 at the position in snaps, routes, targets, receptions, and yards, Our offensive issues limited him to only four touchdowns which is a bummer considering how much we want to see our receivers succeed.
Mooney is going to stay busy as he heads into next season; with Claypool, St. Brown, etc, hot on his heels for the WR1 slot, he's going to need to continue to elevate his game. The Bears will surely draft a receiver or two, and I'd expect them to pick up someone in free agency as well. Some competition at receiver would be healthy and probably good for our offense. We need a Justin Jefferson, a Rice, or a Megatron. I, for one, am tired of seeing low-scoring offensive Chicago games.
I think Mooney can really succeed going into next year with another year of Getsy's system under his belt, I don't think defenses will be able to pressure him as much. As long as Poles and company take care of us in the draft, we should be good for year two of the rebuild.
