NFL QB has passed away
Adam Schefter reported that Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before playing with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders. Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3. He was training in South Florida with other Steelers QBs, RBs and WRs.
He was also married to Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins.
Dwayne was selected in the 2019 NFL Draft after an exciting season at QB with the Buckeyes in 2018, during which he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, winner of the Chicago Tribune Silver Football Award Top Ten Player of the Year, and winner of Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year
Haskins signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 21, 2021. He was named the third-string quarterback behind QB Ben Roethlisberger and QB Mason Rudolph. He was inactive for all but one game. However, in March 2022, the Steelers placed an original-round restricted free agent tender on Haskins.
While Haskins never got to achieve the success he aspired to as an NFL QB, he still made it to the big leagues. This is such a tragedy. Prayers up for his family going through very tough times.
