Former NFL All-Pro/Current Analyst Believes that the Bears should Sign Packers Running Back this Offseason
In a recent article from former NFL All-Pro running back/current analyst Maurice Jones-Drew, he revealed where he wants to the see soon-to-be free agent RBs sign this offseason:
RB Index: What's next for Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley? Team fits for top free agent running backs
In the article, Jones-Drew states that he wants the Bears to sign Packers RB AJ Dillon:
"Dillon has missed Green Bay's last two games due to neck and thumb injuries, and prior to that, he averaged a career-low 3.4 yards per carry in 2023. Still, when Dillon's healthy, I think he can provide a team with a hard-nosed, physical running back to wear down opposing defenses late in the season. That's why I've paired him with Chicago, where he could join Khalil Herbert in the backfield and produce in cold-weather games. With Justin Fields potentially playing elsewhere in 2024 -- opening the door for a rookie at quarterback -- a veteran RB duo would be tasked with carrying a lot of the offensive load"
- Jones-Drew said
Dillon will be entering free agency this offseason, and Jones-Drew wants to see him on the Bears.
Dillon was drafted by the Packers back in 2020 as the teams 2nd-round pick. Though he was seemed to be a superstar while in college, his NFL career has been underwhelming. In 60 games played thus far, Dillon has a total of 597 rushes for 2,428 along with 16 touchdowns.
Though his stats haven't been very impressive, Jones-Drew believes that Dillon can and will thrive while on a new team and as long as he stays healthy, he can do a solid job as a backup RB in Chicago.
