Ian Rapoport reported Friday that former Bears' DC Sean Desai was hired by the Seattle Seahawks. He will hold the position of associate head coach. At 38 years old, he will be one of the youngest ever to hold this position.
His tenure with the bears started in 2013 as a defensive quality control coach under Mel Tucker. He kept that same job until 2019 when he was promoted to safeties coach when Chuck Pagano took over as DC. In 2021, he was promoted to defensive coordinator. During the 2021 season, he showed an incredible ability to create pressure from everywhere on defense. His defense ranked #6 in the league even though ranking #22 in points allowed. Desai was not retained by the new regime as his contract expired but the league seems to feel like he deserved to stay as a defensive coordinator at the NFL level.
