Ex-Bears Head Coach Speaks on the Justin Fields/Caleb Williams Drama

With the season almost coming to an end, the Bears are already gearing up on the 2024 draft, and former Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt has chimed in on the conversation:

Wannstedt severed as the Bears head coach from 1993-1998. During a recent interview, Wannstedt talked about what the Bears may do in 2024, and also posed a question:

He makes a good point here, as though we are seeing some star quality from college QBs right now, there is no guarantee that they will be better than Justin Fields.

Fields was also a superstar in college, but unfortunately, the Bears have set him up for failure.

If the Bears don't make any changes to this team, then a guy like Caleb Williams will fail to thrive in this environment.

If Fields had a system like the Chiefs or 49ers, then he would be a different player. I don't think bringing in a young guy will help with the issues we are seeing right now.

I say: fix the coaching and keep Fields. Draft a WR and build around him.
