Could Deshaun Watson be on his way to the NFC north?
Earlier today, ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler reported that current Houston Texans' quarterback Deshaun Watson has listed two teams as potential fits for his services. Those two teams are the Buccaneers and the Vikings.
This means that Deshaun has a chance to join the Chicago Bears in the NFC North division. This might not be the greatest news for the future of the division. Watson is an extremely talented quarterback. He is only 26 years old at the moment. Not so long ago, he was regarded as a top 5 QB in all of football.
However, the biggest aspect of his situation is not on the field. Watson is facing 22 civil lawsuits, as well as a criminal investigation by the Houston Police Department, for alleged sexual misconduct. This is not an ideal situation for any teams that would want to acquire his services.
Deshaun has a no-trade clause in his contract, meaning he must approve of any deal. It is unclear what his value is due to the current investigations.
The Vikings currently have Kirk Cousins under center. He is entering the last year of his contract. Watson would certainly be an upgrade over Cousins but at what cost.
