Chicago Bears promote Ashton Washington!
As first-year GM Ryan Poles continues to re-shape the front office, a familiar name within the franchise continues to make moves up the organizational ladder.
Chicago Bears scout Ashton Washington has been promoted from Scouting Assistant to Player Personnel Coordinator.
Washington is the first full-time female scout for the Bears. She is also one of only 12 female scouts in the league. She originally joined the Bears as part of the Bill Walsh diversity coaching fellowship.
She is truly a great candidate to achieve amazing things in the NFL. In fact, at age 23, she became the director of High school relations with the University of Illinois under former Bears coach Lovie Smith.
While the NFL still has work to do when it comes to representation, inclusion, and diversity, I still feel as if these Fellowship programs are a good start. And I believe the Bears have done a great job in using them as a launching pad for future careers.
