Tom Pelissero has announced that the Bears are officially releasing veteran linebacker Danny Trevathan. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone as he has been rumored as a cut candidate for a while now.
This move saves over $3.2 million. It is clear that Chicago is in a quick reload situation with the recent departure of Khalil Mack. Chicago signed Trevathan to a 3-year deal worth $21.75 million last year.
Unfortunately, Trevethan has not been able to stay available and healthy for the past couple of years. He missed 19 games in the last 3 years. While he was still a decent player on the field, it's pretty clear his best days are behind him.
