Bears HC Matt Eberflus very critical of the lack of physicality in the NFL's off-season
As we all know, the NFL is not what it used to be. Back in the 1980s, the coaches had carte balance as to what they wanted to do in practice. Nowadays, the amount of contact you can have is very limited by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). However, I think there is a lot of goos in that because the safety of the players truly is the most important aspect of all. I believe that if you can find ways to make the career longer for most players, the NFL will be in good shape.
But, you have to find the sweet spot where you still have a little bit of contact so you can evaluate your team. Because let's be honest, a practice without full pads is not a true test, especially for the linemen.
