Bears CB Jaylon Johnson Reveals His Feelings on the New Montez Sweat Extension Deal
Ahead of the trade deadline, it was revealed that Bears CB Jaylon Johnson requested a trade after failing to reach an agreement deal. Though he asked to be traded, no deal was done, but the Bears did acquire Commanders DE Montez Sweat.
Shortly after trading for him, the Bears and Sweat agreed to a 4-year deal worth over $100 million, and fans quickly began to wonder how Johnson feels.
After the Bears loss against the Saints, Johnson spoke to the media and responded to a question about how felt about the new extension deal:
As seen in the tweet, Johnson told reports that he is happy for Sweat, and though he wishes he got paid first, he is just focusing on making All-Pro and winning some games.
This deal proves that it is unlikely the Bears will sign Johnson on a big deal, making it likely that Johnson will leave Chicago after the 2023 season.
