Chicago Bears Negotiated with top Free Agent RB before he signed with contender

Earlier this offseason, the NFL world was surprised to hear that former Giants RB Saquon Barkley had signed with his former rival, the Eagles, who are also Super Bowl contenders.

Now, following a new episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks," it has been revealed that the Chicago Bears were in talks with Barkley as well:

As heard, Barkley was getting interest from both the Eagles and the Bears earlier this offseason, and Giants owner John Mara was vocal about his feelings towards Barkley possibly signing with the Eagles.

Clearly Mara would have preferred for Barkley to have joined the Bears instead, but that is not how this situation played out.
