Veteran Bears Offensive Lineman May Be Traded, Insider Suggests
Larry Borom may be leaving the Chicago Bears as the 2024 regular season approaches, according to insider Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. During a recent Q&A, Biggs suggested that Borom's future with the team could be uncertain, especially with the possibility of the Bears drafting a new tackle. "If Borom doesn't fit into the team's future plans, trading him would be ideal," Biggs noted.
Despite Borom's solid track record of 39 games played and 23 starts, his increased salary could complicate trade possibilities. Borom's contract escalated to $3.116 million for 2024 after sufficient playtime, which might be more than the Bears are willing to invest, considering their recent signing of Jake Curhan for significantly less.Curhan, along with newly signed veteran Matt Pryor, will compete for the swing tackle position, potentially making Borom expendable. Although Borom's versatility and experience could keep him in contention for a roster spot, the crowded field could see him traded or released before the season begins.
