Ahead of the Bears matchup against the Raiders in week 7, the Bears revealed that undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent will be starting for the team, making this his first career NFL start.
During warmups before the game, Bears OL Lucas Patrick made sure to share some words with Bagent to; hype him up, release nerves, and to show him that the team has his back:
As heard early on in the video, Patrick said to Bagent:
"You're here for a f*cking reason. Show the f*cking world"
Bagent went undrafted after spending his college career playing for a division 2 school. Most guys like him don't get a shot in the NFL, but after an impressive preseason and the injury of Justin Fields, Bagent was able to show the world what he can do.
Bagent finished the game going 21/29, throwing for 162 yards, 1 touchdown, and lead the team to a 30-12 victory.
Bagent did indeed prove his abilities and showed the viewers his true talent, the same talent that all these teams passed up on in the 2023 draft.
