USFL announces new technology with a chip inside the football
The new football league by the name USFL inaugural season is starting this week. While we don't expect this league to be extremely big like all the other leagues that have tried in the past, the new technology they implemented is really cool.
The league had its first preseason games over the weekend and introduced a first-down measuring system that doesn't involve the traditional chains every league ever made has been using for decades.
The new and improved measuring system is very similar to the replay system tennis uses to determine if a ball is in or out. Indeed, the league has a chip placed in every football and a virtual yellow first-down line that will measure if the ball crossed the first down line or not via the virtual replay system.
Check out how the technology is working in live-action:
Again, I have never really enjoyed these others leagues so far, but this technology is amazing and I think it could be a very solid improvement in the NFL as well. This could also help speed up games!
