Updates on Mike Wiliams free agency
Mike Williams has been a very valuable asset for the Los Angeles Chargers for the past 5 seasons. Although he may have not lived up totally to his high draft pick position (7th overall) he has been a fine receiver in some games, and he has been an excellent receiver in others. What he may lack in consistency, he makes up for it in huge game-changing plays. Indeed, he has shown that he can catch fire and take over some games.
The Chicago Bears probably won't resign Allen Robinson and they will be in great need of an outside presence at the receiver spot. In order to help their young quarterback in Justin Fields, the Bears would benefit greatly in adding a receiving that can have a huge impact immediately. Williams piled up 1146 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2021. He had 4 games over 100 yards. However, what may keep him from getting a huge top 10 receiver contract is his lack of consistency.
Reports on his free agency situation
This means that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he probably will not be available in the upcoming free agency period. That is a bummer for the Bears because Williams could have been an amazing pickup.
