UCF football players will wear custom QR codes on jerseys during 2022 spring game
This is a very special story in the football world. With the arrival of the NIL rules in the NCAA, (NIL= Name Images and likeness. College athletes who attend a school in a state without an NIL law can engage in NIL activity without violating NCAA rules related to name, image and likeness) players have been trying to build up their brand more and more in order to obtain more money throughout their sponsor deals.
The UCF Knights will promote the social media accounts of their players in a unique way today during their spring game.
The school revealed this week that they will have custom QR codes on the backs of every players' jerseys during the spring game. A scan of each player's QR code with a phone camera will take the user to a specific bio page that now includes social media handles, charities and player merchandise stores.
This is a really cool feature that we can expect to see more and more in the new digital era across the sports!
Check out how this will work. Whatever team your root for in the NCAA, you have to admit that this is really cool!
