Two of the NFL's best offensive lineman will be out for a long period of time
We received two pretty significant injury updates in the NFL today as 49ers LT Trent Williams was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain that will sideline him for 4-6 weeks.
We also learned that Chargers LT Rashawn Slatter is expected to miss the remainder of the season after tearing his left biceps tendon in a 38-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
As for Williams, he had to exit Sunday night's game against the Broncos with an injury. During a play in which quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo lost track of where he was and inadvertently stepped out of the back of the end zone for a safety, Williams was injured as a defender fell on his right leg.
As for Slatter, he will also be missed dearly by the Chargers who have been so unlucky so far this season with injuries. The loss of Slater is significant for the Chargers and quarterback Justin Herbert, who also played Sunday without Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley, who is dealing with a knee issue.
The 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, Slater earned Pro Bowl recognition as a rookie last season.
