This might have been Matt Nagy's worst play call in 2021...
It's no secret that former Bears head coach Matt Nagy was pretty bad towards the end of his tenure in Chicago. I know that he had a decent run when he started, but it quickly turned ugly for Nagy.
Indeed, you did not need to be a football expert to know that he was calling horrendous plays time and time again.
Here is an example of Nagy calling a concept called "5 verts" at the 9-yard line. This means that all 5 pass catchers were running vertical routes. This is a fine play when you are playing against zone coverage and you can find spaces in between zones down the field. How do you expect guys to find a zone when you are in a goal-line situation. This is mind-boggling. Any high schooler playing football knows that this makes no sense.
This is yet another example of why Justin Fields was set for failure with Nagy as his head coach. You can even include Mitch Trubisky for that matter.
