The reason behind George H. McCaskey vote on new NFL rule

In what some may consider a controversial move the Bears have voted in favor of a new rule that will enable both teams to possess the ball in overtime this upcoming postseason. The vote passed 29-3 with the three clubs voting against it being the Vikings, Bengals , and Dolphins , which satisfied a need for a minimum of 24 votes.
Bears Chairman George H. McCaskey saw good data and good conversation in the meeting room and expressed positivity in no longer relying on a coin toss in such high stakes games. The original deal wanted to see these changes implemented into the regular season as well but as McCaskey put it.
"There was some concern expressed about adding too much to the number of plays, injury risk. Time will tell what impact we might see this new rule have on the upcoming season.
