The Flyover for Super Bowl LVII Will Present a Groundbreaking New Experience for the Grand Event
It is widely recognized that the Super Bowl encompasses far more than just the actual competition. Aside from the highly anticipated halftime performance, the event also showcases commercials, the national anthem, the coin toss, and various pre-game activities. Of particular significance is the flyover, a longstanding tradition during the national anthem.
This year, however, the flyover will offer a novel experience, with a trailblazing all-female crew. Reports indicate that four female pilots will soar over State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in a diamond formation. The female flight crew will commemorate 50 years of women in aviation in the Navy, dating back to the inaugural eight women who entered flight school in Pensacola, Florida, in 1973. The aircraft will be piloted by Lt. Arielle Ash and Lt. Caitie Perkowski flying the two F/A-18F Super Hornets, with weapon systems officers Lt. Saree Moreno and Lt. Naomi Ngalle. The EA 18G Growler will be commanded by Lt. Margaret Dente, with electronic warfare officer Lt. Lyndsay Evans, and the F-35C Lightning II will be piloted by Lt. Suzelle Thomas.
