The Bears continue to demonstrate their trust in their longstanding long snapper.

Despite being 36 years old, the Bears wasted no time in securing the services of their long snapper, Patrick Scales, by signing him to a new contract on Friday, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. According to Overthecap.com, Scales' contract spans one year and is valued at $1.378 million, with $1.153 million guaranteed. In the previous year, Scales accounted for a total of $1.37 million against the Bears' salary cap.

Having been with the Bears for nine seasons, Scales missed the 2017 season due to a knee injury. He now enters his 11th season overall, having joined the team in 2015 after appearing in two games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2014.

Throughout his tenure, Scales has participated in 120 Bears games, reflecting the team's inclination to retain long snappers who perform effectively. Patrick Mannelly, who retired in 2013 after a 16-season career that began in 1998, serves as a notable example.

Despite going undrafted from Utah State, Scales has made his mark, tallying 14 tackles over the course of his career.
