The bears have made their first trade of the draft!!
NFL Network has reported that the Bears traded their 2023 6th-round pick from the Chargers back to LAC for a pair of 7th-round picks this year.
While this is not a blockbuster move, it's still a solid trade in my mind. We already knew how little draft capital the Bears have. This means that the bears will be able to get one more selection in round 7.
The Bears will now pick at 254 and 255 in the 7th round today, per NFL network. Chicago traded a 2023 sixth-round pick back to the Chargers, the same one that was acquired in the Khalil Mack trade.
I think this is a great move since the Bears clearly need more "depth pieces" for training camp and potentially even the 53-man roster. I'd rather have more rookies than free-agent veterans. Those 6-7th rounders have way more upside!
Here is the full list of Bears draft pick for now on Day 3:5th round:
Pick 148 and 150
6th round:
Pick 186
7th round:
Pick 254 and 255
