Stephen A. Smith responds to the 1957's Little Rock Jerry Jones photo
ARLINGTON, Texas -- After the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants on Thanksgiving, owner and general manager Jerry Jones answered more questions about a story published by The Washington Post than his team improving to 8-3 and looking like a Super Bowl contender.
The article drew the most attention for the fact that it shed light on a photograph of a 14-year-old Jones among a group that was crowding around the entrance to North Little Rock High School as six Black students tried to enter, in September 1957.
Jones addressed his presence in the crowd after the Cowboys' victory against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.
"I didn't know at the time the monumental event that was going on, and I'm sure glad that we're a long way from that," Jones, 80, said of the incident that occurred when he was a sophomore. "I am. That would remind me just to continue to do everything we can to not have those kinds of things happen."
