The Chicago Bears had arguably the best defense in the NFL last year under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, however Fangio left to Denver to become the Broncos head coach. With all the key pieces still in place, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano will step in and try to keep the wave going. Pagano doesn't just want to keep the wave going, he want to make NFL history while doing it. "Our vision for this defense is to be the best," Pagano said. "Can we be the best in the history of the game? The pieces are there and they will continue to add pieces. Can we continue to be better than we were last year? Absolutely. It's going to be very, very difficult and a huge challenge, but one we will be up for."
The Bears new DC has already spoken to players who feel the defense is ready for another level. "We can be better, I can get better."Is what Bears players texted him recently, and they seem to already be on the same page. "They've been playing great defense here for a long, long time," Pagano said. "Last year was no exception. So again, for us to just throw everything out and start anew, that would not be very smart on my part."
