Multiple key Bears coaches are gaining some prized experience at the Senior Bowl
The Bears coaching staff is availing of a rare opportunity at the Senior Bowl, as a result of a new NFL initiative aimed at promoting professional development. The initiative allows coordinators and assistant coaches to assume elevated or different roles from those they hold with their clubs. As a result, Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was appointed head coach of the American team, while linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi and assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts are aiding Getsy, and assistant special teams coach Carlos Polk is serving as the National squad's special teams coordinator.
Borgonzi, with 12 years of NFL coaching experience, is coaching inside linebackers and relishing the chance to interact with players, gain a deeper understanding of them, and have an inside look at the whole group ahead of the draft. Borgonzi's passion for football and love of Sundays in the NFL has driven him to pursue a career in coaching, and he continues to get chills on gameday.
