More details surfaced on Lucas Patrick's injury
On Friday, it was reported that Bears center Lucas Patrick was expected to require surgery on his right hand. This early in training camp, there is likely optimism he will be available sooner rather than later, perhaps before the season opener.
Patrick signed a two-year deal with the Bears in the offseason. Prior to signing with the Bears, Patrick spent his whole career in Green Bay with the Packers.
Well, we learned today that he will be out for about 6 weeks due to a broken thumb but there is optimism he will be ready to play Week 1.
Upon Patrick's exit, rookie center and University of Illinois product Doug Kramer entered in his place.
This is such bad news, especially because Patrick had so much to benefit from practices, especially with all the responsibilities as a Center in Getsy's scheme. Even if he's able to make it back for the season opener, this can't be good for his development. A center has to be able to build chemistry with his fellow linemen as with the quarterbacks as well...
This hurts.
